  floating point division by zero error    hits: 1098

why does this come up, the program was working fine then the error came when I was trying to resize ANY photos from any file. it will not work at all. I removed the program cleaned my computer, restarted, reinstalled the program and it gave me the same error. this has been a 6 hour ordeal.

Hi there.

I too have recently been getting the same error with two programs that I use-Skype and ICUII. It happens everytime I click on a new option with either progams and with ICUII the camera window freezes and the same error message repeatedly apppears.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this error?

I am using WinXP on a Toshiba laptop using 256 meg ram and a 1.7 celeron cpu.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I use the program daily. Today i got this error, I cleaned and compressed folders, emptied trash, cleaned out any temp folders, uninstalled the program re downloaded it saved it, reinstalled it and when I tried to run it again I got the same message.

Whenever I try to burn a CD (Pinnacle Instant CD+DVD) everything burns fine until it gets to image #7. I thought it might be the file so I changed it but I still get the messagel I also tried burning at very low speeds, rebooting before attempting to burn, closing everything out while burning, and have used several different brands of discs. The error says "Floating point division by zero." I have no idea how to fix this, nor what it means, If anyone can help please respond. Thanks.

i heard it might be some codecs installed on your pc on another forum but i cant seem to find the codec responsible if this is true

When i run All the Real Converter pro, everything works untill i hit 'convert' then i get the 'by Zero' ERROR, then i can only click OK, and it does nothing else. I also got this error with a similar program earlier today, but i didnt bother looking into it. Anyone know what to do to fix this?

1. You are not connected to the internet.
---> Connect to the internet first, than try to send messages!
2. You typed the information wrong.

3. You are behind firewall (proxy server).
---> The program does not support proxys. Sorry.
4. Your mail server needs password user authentication.
---> The program does not support such servers at this time!

If you are having problems with your outgoing server please read this:

You can try to use some of the free mail services that offer free SMTP servers with no authentication. I have Googled around and it is hard to find one because that would allow sending spam. Usually the user has to register for their service (here is a list of such services: http://www.freemailguide.com/free_pop3_email.html), but more common is that the ISP provides SMTP server (here is a list of providers and their servers: http://www.e-eeasy.com/SMTPServerList.aspx). Do you have this option? Note that the server has to be unsecure and work with no password for the program to work (just the user name).

I think you should have no problems using your ISP's SMTP server. I think asking your local ISP for their SMTP is the best solution available.

OK, I installed GC last night and went through the process's however when I disconnected after FTP'ing everything to a folder (jpg's/mini's and HTML's) only the text under where the photo should be was available, although the photo's were in the folder. Hi!

Are you sure taht you uploaded all the files? You have to upload:
- original images
- small (resized mini-) images
- created HTML files
- css file

If you upload all these files I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Predlagam, da si pogledate kakšno spletno stran, ki se ukvarja z izdelavo spletnih strani, saj jh je na internetu polno. Tam boste našli tudi primere in navodila, kako se tega lotiti.
Če pa ste pripravljeni vsaj malo investirati, pa na amazon.com obstaja ogromno knjig na to temo. Nakup se vsekakor splača.

I recently downloaded your gallery creator program,2 things happened next,when I tried to use the ftp included with your program it wouldn't transfer the file and I couldn't figureout how to move the file out of your program so I could use my ftp.Second when I went back to the picture files in my computer the file had kept reproducing it's self and had grown from 50 pics to 1600.any ideas?

Hi!

It is important to know that using Gallery Creator the program will create additional image for each existing image (thumbnail). It will also create one HTML file for each image so the gallery will be navigatable. These new files will be created in the same folder where the original photos are stored. When you are using your own FTP program, you can find the created files where the original pictures are - you have to upload the original photos, cretaed thumbnails (mini- files) and the created html files.

The only reason why 50 files would grow to 1600 files is if you cretaed 10 different galleries and have created 100 additional files each time...?

Hmm, then it is possible that:
a) some other program is copying the files
b) you really have a virus
Both are really hard to believe... Are picture files the only ones that are being copied?

I think it would be wise to run a virus scan... And I'm pretty sure copying files is not connected to Gallery Creator itself...

I've used the program for several years successfully. Recently when I try to open the icon appears in the task bar but no window opens. Even removed program, downloaded current files and reinstalled, but no success. Any suggestions?

This is weird... Did you change anything on your computer, installed some new software, for example virusscan or similar?

Is it possible that you have changed the screen resolution and the program loads, but it is outside your visual part of desktop so you can not see it?

I can't think of other ideas right now...

Pomembno je, da veš, da program na spletni strani, ki mu jo daš, poišče povezave na slike ter jih prenese. Če se ti prenesjo le majhne slikice, potem preveri, če nimaš vklopljene možnosti 'Naoži slike, vključene v spletno stran'. Če jo imaš vklopljeno, jo izklopi in poskusi znova.

I have been experiencing with a lot of spam on this forum lately. Because I hate spam and it made forum useless I am forced to change the rules of posting.

From now on you have to be a registered user to post a question or hint on the forum. All the users are still able to read all the messages, you just have to log in to post one.

Well, I have to correct my post: there is no way of saving the gallery settings to the disk, but there of course is way of saving the gallery. When a gallery is created it is saved to disk, and from there on it can be burnt to a CD, sent over e-mail, put on a website,...

So:
Yes, you can save a gallery to disk.
No, you can not save settings.

She is my friend and we go out a lot and sometimes we take time to make a photosession... But only now and then, so lately we have both been busy and haven't done anything new.

I would like to create a gallery from the 133 MB TIFFs (slide scans) that I have. What would be best in this case? To use the image resizer first ( I dont think it supports tiffs) and then use the gallery creator?

Yes, this would be a good solution... Except, as you have noted - Mihov Image Resizer does not support TIFF... So at the time with version 0.9 this is not possible.

Hi!

Unfortunately there is no way of doing that. At least not automatically without your intervention. But if you know your way into HTML coding then you could just create a new gallery, downlaod the index-html file from the existing gallery, and merge them together. Then you would have to upload the new merged index.html and all the files from the new gallery.
But as I said this is work for an expert... If you can do it, try!

I name my pictures always like "chris and andrea.jpg". So with the name of the picture there would be an description for each picture...

Dont know if this post has been repeated or not but ....I created my pic gallery and uploaded to my web space...the original pics looked ok with no probs....but after uploading them to my web space and viewed them i noticed that page 2 and 4 pics were missing...but they were on the web space and the originals were fine.....i tried the html index file and the html that points to the pic and it all works just fine on my harddrive....seems even page 20's pic is slightly faded and has partial colored pixelation in it....so i deleted the gallery and recreated the web content....but still comes out with same prob........

I have received your e-mail with the gallery. The first thing that came up was this line:
<META content="MSHTML 6.00.2600.0" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
In other words, this file has been changed in a Microsoft tool or genereated with one. If you want me to find your errors on the page that you edited, than this won't go. If you sent me the wrong file by mistake, then send me the correct one again!

Try to see how far the creation of a gallery has come; if there are 10 files already proccessed (10 html files are on disk) then the eleventh file is corrupted.

I don't think so... If it's corrupted, that means that the header is corrupted and that it's hard to get any info out... If the image is just not downloaded completely, then it's still being displayed, but half of it is missing. But if the first part is corrupted, then I think theres' no good help. At least not known to me.

One program here create images in JPEG/BMP format and I can open them with ACDSee but I can't with PhotoShop and Borland C++ Builder 6.

Any ideas are welcome!

If you are able to view the picture in any format, you should be able to fix this problem. Try double clicking on the pic, then open portrait viewer. Now click on file, and "save as". Scroll down and make sure you are saving it as a jpeg, and it will resave, usually as a smaller file. You don't lose any clarity, and now the error is fixed!

I am working with Front Page2000 and already have a gallery made by front page. I like yours much better. Before I upload to internet should I delete my memories page of gallery pictures from front page. How does your program know where to put your gallery on my web page.=? (to take the place of the old gallery) Sorry, you just do not have enough information for this proceedure.

Then you just have to insert the created galery somewhere in the file structure of the created site (copy & paste will do) and then link to the created gallery.

Seveda lahko. V Dreamweaverju lahko narejene strani urejaš kot običajne HTML datoteke. Upoštevaj le to, da boš moral popravljati vsako datoteko posebej, da bodo spremembe vidne na vseh straneh.

Tako je, ustvarjeno galerijo lahko integriraš v Dreamweaver in povežeš s svojo prvo stranjo. Pravzaprav je vse, kar moraš narediti to, da na svojo prvo stran daš povezavo na prvo stran galerije - seveda pa moraš naložiti tudi vse datoteke galerije (tako html kot slike!).

Priporočena velikost? Hmm, odvisno od tega, kaj z galerijo želiš doseči. Pomembno je to, da velikost datoteke ne bo prevelika, da se bodo slike hitro nalagale, ter da ne bodo premajhne, da se bo še kaj videlo. Jaz do pred kratkim uporabljal velikost slike 640 točk širine, zdaj pa dokaj pogosto uporabim že kar velikost 800 točk širine. Tako da je po mojem to kar primerna velikost.

Hallo,
i want to install the Gallery Creator. It tryed it three times, an i downloaded the Setup file two times, but always i get the following error:

An error occured while trying to copy a file:
the source file is corrupted

the error ist about the GCreator.exe

Is the problem my PC or the Setup File?

I have Win XP SP2 German.

Hi,
I have a problem.
I need to download a lot of pictures from a server.
the Pictures are all equal named .
The only difference is the folder name.
If i save the pics with your downloader in one folder, the downloader overwrites the pics permanently.
Have you ever thought about an automatic Folder creation ? Or an automatic File rename if the filename still exists ?? Please answer.

Hi,
Is it possible to edit the settings of Gallery Creator?
All the sizes of the jpg's are much to big for any pc screen. Somehow the resizing is not correct
normally 2mb pix are resized by this program but still not enough so the program is only usefull to create a RAW site but still has to be edited much. Any idea's?

The galery functions only if all the files are loaded in the same folder. I would like to have however the index of the pictures in an other location than the pictures (or embeded in an other file).
It is possible to do it by hand of course, however, did you consider to put a path option in a new version?

Yes, I know what you mean. I think this could be done by making all the paths in the file absolute - the user would have to enter the name to the images manually.

I AM SO SO APOLIGETIC TO YOU MR. MIHOV, IF I COULD GET A TICKET TO YOUR COUNTRY I WOULD GO AND WORK FOR YOU TO MAKE YOU HAPPY FOR ME. Apparently, I just did not look close enough at the program. You said maby you should just cut and paste html and then I saw that on the left side. I am so goofy and sorry so please excuse!! NOW!! I am looking for this and I am wondering about the MP3 music. Do I put the music with the jpeg files, which I did but I did not see it or hear it when I went to preview the thumbs. Does the music play when you first look at all the thumbs and stop when you click a thumb. ( I think I would like to hear the music throught the whole program) Also, the html where is it to copy. I am getting closer to getting all this and the program I believe is better then Front Page2000 thumbnails.

Mp3 files are ment like a comment to each picture, not like background music fot the whole gallery. So the thumbnail page will not play anything, but if you name the mp3 files right and put with the gallery (look into the help file for the exact names of the mp3 files), they will be played with each jpeg shown.
I have added this feature so that I and my girlfriend were able to comment each picture with our voice, not just the words. Unfortunately this feature worked only under Internet Explorer, that is why I haven't developed it further.

Ok, Mr. Mihov, I do not believe you addressed my problem. Since I already have thumbs made my Front Page2000 do I go into my ftp and delete all the pictures associated with the gallery like the mini's and the origional size and then use your program? You also said to cut and paste but paste what I don't know where the html is from your program since it is automatic etc. so how can I cut and paste? I am not willing to delete my work until I know for sure you know what to tell me and I understand. Perhaps someone out there also has use of Front Page and has come across this situation. I really love this program. Now don't forget to answer this also: What is this Mp3 under settings. Can I put music on also. Is the music running straight through or does it cut off when I would click a picture. I know this is a lot to read and answer but Mr. Mihov, you or someone help me.

Thanks for the answer for background image I finaly figured it out before I read your answer!! Now I am using Front Page2000 and for now I used there gallery creator and I must say I like your much better!! The page is called "Memories" so first do I go into front page and my ftp and delete all the pictures big and mini from front page2000 and insert the Mihov Gallery. What I mean to say is HOW DO I "TRADE" MY GALLERY FOR YOURS" Do I made a directory which I did and called in "Memories" and highlighted all the pics and clicked the arrow and when it was finished I expected to see the Mihov Gallery? I didn't but because I think I am still doing something wrong. I don't believe your helps directions and that good yet but could be because for those using front page need to know.

You can get it by selecting the 'use background' checkbox. Then you have to browse for the image.
However, make sure that the background image is in the same folder as the original images! Only this way the background will be displayed with the gallery.
If the image is not in the same folder, copy it there.

You do everithing right... Are you sure that nothing happens?! maybe the process is so fast that you can't see it -> try to look at the same folder where the original image is for a converted image. If your file was image.bmp, try to look for image.bmp.jpg - it should be there.

My dean returned from China with a lot of photos the took on a cd. I cannot get Gallery Creator to work on them. I keep getting "File Access Denied" mesages. Both on the CD and on the files that I copied from the CD to my hard drive. However, I can open the jpg images with my viewer?

Any suggestions?

Hi Harry!

I think this is the first time I will give a straight answer to a question :-)
The thing is that the files on the CD have an attribute 'read-only' and even if you copy the files to a hard drive the attribute is not removed. And somehow the program doesn't like that and needs the files to be without that attribute set.
I have fixed this bug and is still waiting for version 0.9.3 to come out, but in the mean-time you can
- ask me to send you a preview beta version
- select all the files copied from the CD and remove the 'read-only' attribute.

There is a method that I have been using at http://nj.sytes.net/wp . If you notice, there is a gallery menu system and then the individual galleries are created using Gallery Creator.

The method I have been using is as follows:

1. manually create (through your favorite editor) the MENU PAGE.

2. Create your FIRST gallery from "Gallery Creator" , press PREVIEW WEB PAGE

3. in IE and other browsers you can - View Source, which for some people that will automatically bring up the source code in Notepad.exe .

... In the event that your Notepad does not appear for you, then under TOOLS, INTERNET SETTINGS, PROGRAMS you will notice "Default Editor". Change this so it reads "notepad.exe". (IE will have to be restarted after this step. [return to step 2]

4. create yourself a BUTTON or "What Have You Mechanism" [aka: a link] and insert it before the </td></tr></table> line. This is located just after the "title".

Example: BUTTON <cut/paste code if you want>
<center><form action="http://nj.sytes.net/wp/menu.html" target="files"><input type="submit" name="dummy" value="Back to the Menu"></form></center>

5. Save and exit Notepad, click RELOAD in browser and it should be OK.

Now, without me telling you.... repeat these steps as much as possible. Remember, once you hit CTRL-C the clipboard is loaded with your wanted code.

A feature to connect some galleries would be nice too - that means: If I had certain galleries I would like to be able to create a "master-page" with links to all of them and links from the starting pages back to the "master-page".

Make sure that you're using the right ftp server name (stp://, not http:// !!!), then check if your username and password are correct.

HI
I have a Kevin Costner website (ok. don't laugh LOL) and I want to make a photo gallery of the pictures I have on my computer.
I'm new to this gallery program, so please be patient, thanks.

Now heres what I want to do:
I want to make a Kevin Gallery and don't know how to put more then one picture in the gallery? and I want to make an Index for the gallery so my friends can click on Index and be able to go to other pictures? and I want to put it on my website:www.geocities.com/jankevin2002?

I know alot of questions but I need help, and any help would be greatful.

Hi!

You can use Mihov Gallery Creator for this job, it's really easy.
Put all your files in a special folder, let's say Kevin (I'm not laughing). Run the program and browse to that folder. Select all the pictures, set the options you want and click the start button. The gallery will be cretaed, you can preview it and make again, if you don't like something. When you like it, just select to upload it to your server over FTP. Have your user details handy because you will need your server's name, your user name and password. Upload the pictures and that's it!

If you have any trouble then it's the best to see the documentation and help files that come with the program. And you'll find step by step instructions there, too.

Great little program!

I have a request: Is there a way to do multiple directories at one time?

I am archiving a Yahoo Wallpaper Group and making it available to the public. I have about 12 different directories that I need to update on a weekly basis.

I would like to be able to have:

(1) command line specs (if available)
OR
(2) a multi-directory version (if available)

Unfortunately none of those two is not yet available... I will include command line parameters soon, but I have no intentions of including subfolders. It's easier just to copy files...

From the menu I cannot select the dutch language. The help file sais that you can select another item where you can make the translation for another language.
I cannot find this item in the mainmenu.

Hi Gordon!

All the programs on the CD are freely available and you DON'T need any codes ar keys for using them. There is even a registered version of my shareware program Mihov JPEGar there that is already registered.
I suggest you insert the CD in the drive and try to browse the CD with Windows Explorer. You'll see folders like develop, zip, setup, run,... Open folder run and you will see a tree structure of many programs. Open a subfolder and then click on the program name, e.g. GCreator.exe in subfolder Mihov Gallery Creator.
That is all to it, so there's no need for an entry code!

If you'll be still having problems please send me an e-mail so I can help you.

It does not depend on the file extension if you want to save it; that means that you save it just like any other file.

first I want to let you know that I really like your "Gallery Creator"... simple in using and perfect in appearance!!
nevertheless there is a mistake in the GERMAN Writing: You always wrote for gallery "Gallerie"... but it must be "Galerie"... right writing is important for professional site owners!! I would really appreciate if you change this, especially in the representation in the blue top of a windows browser...

I use Incredimail for my e-mail and have been learning letter creating and using PSP for creating. I am wondering if I could have permission to use some of the artwork at this site to create letter backgrounds. I would put a link to the artist in the body of the letter.

I translated a new Finnish language version this evening and checked it with a Finnish-born computer guru - as well as ordering a CD this afternoon. Am I some kind of hero or do I just appreciate clever Slovenes?!

I don't know if I should thank you or kill myself... Or both! You used the character '/' in the language name (Finnish/finsko) and that caused the application not to save the translation. The special characters are not allowed as filenames and that is exactly what happened... Am I stupid or what?!
If you still remember, please fill in the form again :-(
I have corrected it so the language is now just 'Finnish'. SORRY SORRY SORRY!!!
So much about clever...

I really don't know how to make up to you... If it helps: the CD is already on its way :-)

En este caso al menos "it is never too late" parece ser cierto. Ahora, hace cinco minutos, he bajado MGC solo para verlo en Espańol, y la traducción "no está mal". Pero żpor qué la ventana de "Opciones" está en inglés? Más aún, no encontré Help en espańol. Tal vez me he perdido y existe. Ya que esta fué la razón de mi respuesta a Dori, me gustaría saber si estoy equivocado o no. Gracias Miha.

You are right; some parts of the program are not (yet) translated. I am working on changing the program so every string can be translated. But this takes time!
You are right also about the help file. Help file is only in English language. I have no plans for translating that... But if you have enough time and knowledge you may do it! What do you think?

What I do think and you probably agree is that it is not good to say that a program is translated into this or that language if it is not...yet. :-( HELP is important and often vital por those of us who are expert in nothing.
Yes I have the knowledge and I would try to find the time. However I started this trying to help Dori. Let me think about it.

At the time only translating from English is possible. But if you want I can setup a page where you would be translating from German.

Jetzt ist es möglich nur die Englischen Texte übersetzten. Aber wenn Sie wollen, kann ich eine Seite machen, wo man die Deutsche Texte übersetzt.
Noch etwas: ich glaube Persisch braucht eine andere Schrift, nicht Latein. Zur Zeit habe ich viele Problemme mit anderen Schriften, z.B Russisch, Japanisch, Kinesisch. Wenn auch mit Persisch so ist, sei es besser, dass wir noch ein bisschen warten bis ich die Problemme löse. Wenn nicht, entschuldige ich mich.

Hello all,

After putting in all my FTP information, ( ftp.xxxxxx.com ) the gallery wont upload to my ftp site. It says ( In Valid Host ) I put in the same information that I FTP with ( WS_FTP95 )It also has a button on it that says "Pre-view gallery in your Browser, but that wont work either. Are you sure that the information is the same?
Have you checked if you are using correct password/username?

Yes, the programs work just fine under XP also. Suported are all 32 bit Windows, that is 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, and XP.

They also have uninstall features so you can safely remove them from your system while not compromizing the rest of it.

Hi!

No, that is not possible (yet). On th eother hand, version 0.9.3 will be using templates also. If you are making a gallery with templates then the files can include anything you want.
Version 0.9.3 is not out yet, but if you want I can send you a pre-pre-preview... It works, but you'll have to improvize a little. Just mail me and I'll send it to you, OK?

As you might know I am doing this on voluntary basis and everything is free, including the software and support. It is really unfair from your side to rush me under this conditions!

For your info: I am looking into your problem and I haven't found any idea what could be wrong. That is why you didn't get the answer yet! But if you write more info (FTP address, for instance) in the other post maybe you can help me solve your problem...

mini- files are the names of thumbnails (small images), you can not change that! But for the gallery to work you need original files, mini- files and .html files.

If you want a tree structure on your website you can create a folder on the server (like you create one on your computer). This helps you have galleries more organized. For example, you can cretae a folder named '2002' and inside a folder called 'December' and put all the galleries from this period in there. In this case you will know which gallery goes where.

When you crete a folder you have to 'change' to that folder (in Windows Explorer you do that by clicking the little plus sign in front of the folder name and then clicking on the sub-folder name). When you have 'changed' folder you can upload pictures into that folder.

You have to be connected to the internet (in your case AOL), enter all the data about the host (see previous post about what host name is) and then you have to click the 'Connect' button. The program will connect to the FTP server and then you will be able to upload the files o the server.

You have to have an account which you can reach by FTP, File Transfer Protocol. So the host name is the address of the computer that hosts your files, usually something like ftp.yourhost.com.
You can get this information from your internet or service provider. Also ask them for the user name and password for accesing the FTP.

1. On the left side choose the directory in which your pictures are saved.
2. On the right side choose pictures by holding down the 'CTRL' key and clicking on the pictures. If you want the pictures in different order, reorder them before selecting by clicking on the 'up' and 'down' buttons.
3. [Just for experienced users! If the pictures aren't saved on the hard disk, but you have saved the file names (e.g. you have the files already on the internet), you can open the file 'dirlist.txt', which is a standard text file that contains exact file names - in each line one file name. You can load this names by right-clicking on the file list area and selecting 'Open file dirlist.txt'. When the contents are loaded, you can continue the normal way.]
4. In the lower part of the window the look of files the program will create is adjusted. Select title size, title font and style, as well as title color and background color. Enter the title text that will be written above every picture and the name under which the files should be saved.
5. Press the 'Create' button and the gallery will be created.
6. The program asks you if you want to upload created files, preview the gallery or do nothing.

Uploading files to the internet
Choose FTP -> Upload to the internet in the menu.
1. On the left side choose directory and files, that you want to upload. Choose several files by holding down 'CTRL' key and click on the files.
2. On the right side enter host name (e.g. ftp.xoom.com), user name and password.
3. Click on the 'Connect' button.
4. When connected, you can change upload directory. You can do that by clicking on the 'Change directory' button and entering the desired name.
5. [If upload directory does not exist, create it by clicking the 'Create directory' button and entering the desired name.]
6. When the connection is opened and desired directory is selected, click on the '------>' button to start file transfer.
7. After all the files have been uploaded click on the 'Disconnect' button.

This is the second time I have tried to post. I am not sure why it is not being accepted. I will take the liberty of sending this to Miha by mail as well (if I can find his address).

The program is nice and I am very grateful. Thank you.

However, for me to want to keep using this program then it will need some (or at least one) minor tweaks.

The biggest problem is that there is no way of giving the photographs titles. These photo albums will be displayed for many to see on the internet. Even the owner of the album will forget who is in the picture in time. Many of the viewers will not know what is going on. Hence I think that titles are important. Two ways of doing this are

1) The user is given the option of using the image's filename as the title. If the user gives explanitory filenames then this will do very well as a title. This is the easiest way. It should be pretty simple.

2) If the user selects an "add titles" option then as each of the photos appears in the preview window the user can give each of them a title. This would be better, but difficult to code.

The following problems are less important

3) The added option of renaming the file to the title would be nice. Most digital cameras create images with names like "0001, 0002" etc. so it would be nice to give the photos a new name (either the same or different to the title) as one creates the gallery. This has noting to do with creating a gallery but if one is going to be putting titles to allones photos then it would be nice to be able to change the filenames at the same time. Ideally a "Use tiltle for filename replacing spaces with '_'. " option would be nice as well.

4) Users will often not get it right the first time around, meaning that they will have to remake the gallery. It would be nice to have an "ignore files begining with mini-" (But see below, 5)

5) Your other wonderful application "Image resizer" also creates smaller images with the prefiz "mini-." Many digital cameras create images which are too big for the web. It is nice to be able to use the resizer first and then create the gallery. But then the thumbnails become "mini-mini-..." and the files become "mini-..." This is not too much of a problem UNLESS you are kind enough to provide titles by method (1) above, in which case the titles will all become "mini-me-and-my-friend," "mini-me-and-Jane" or whatever. It would be nice to be able to set the prefix ourselves, and better to be able to use a suffix.

6) It would be ideal to have Image Resizer and Gallery Creator rolled into one.

In general, what I think you should be aiming for is for the program to be able to take raw digital camera format files (which are too big and have useless names) and put them onto the Web in the right size, with titles and as much page customization as possible.

I will pay, of course, if I can have titles.

Sorry, the program at this stage doesn't change color depth (except for gif that can have only 256 colors). So I guess it is best to try some other graphics program for image authoring and change that with that one.

On the remote server there is also a file and folder structure like on the local drive. So if you want to have your website structured in subfolders you can create a folder on the remote drive. You can do this by clicking the 'Create directory' button and inputting the name of the folder. The FTP command for this is mkdir.
When a folder is created you have to change to that folder to be able to upload pictures there. You can only change into existing folders (i.e. that have been created sometime in the past). You can change a folder by clicking the 'Change directory' button. The FTP command for this is cd or chdir.

That is true, the program creates only a file named gallery.html (if you chose the file name 'gallery'). The browser looks for the index.html and if it is not found it displays directory list. You cqan do two things:
a) copy the file gallery.html to index.html (don't just rename it because the internal links won't work then!). Then upload both files with the gallery.
b) When you are sending URL address of your web gallery to your friends write theme the whole address to the gallery, i.e not http://www.mysite.com/mypages/gallery1/ but instead of that rather http://www.mysite.com/mypages/gallery1/gallery.html (note the gallery.html at the end of the address).
Both solutions work OK.

I have never thought of that... But there *should* be no problems, I guess.
Anyway, new help files will be in html format, which is easier to read, looks better and is much much easier to make! I hope I'll have enough time to create this for the next version or so...

Really rarely it happens that the thumbnails come out really weird, with some sort of bad color. This usually happens on older computers.
I haven't had a clue what it could be, but one of my great users, Jim Delaplante, found out. The problem is connected with the video card type. For the program to work properly you have to have a minimum sixteen
bit video card!
So old video cards with only 8 bits cause problems.

Just so you'll know!

You have to upload your original images included in the gallery and the files created by the program. If you created the gallery from all the images in a folder, than you have to upload all the files in that folder.
Example: if you have a gallery with only two images (image1.jpg and image2.jpg) and you chose the file name to be 'gallery', than you have to upload both image1.jpg and image2.jpg, mini-image1.jpg and mini-image2.jpg, gallery.html, gallery1.html and gallery2.html.
I hope I explained that OK...

No, unfortunatelly that is not possible in this version, but it might be in the upcoming version.

Thanks, it was to some help, but sorry, I am still witout picture online on Tripod. I was able to load up 20html, three jpg and three mini-jpg files to theyer File manager,but not all. "Inside" the manager do I tray to get online with these files but get the information: An error occurred while we trying to complete your task. The source and destination filename are the same 01.html.
Possible is there an better place to show my photos online? Do you have some tips?

Well it's really hard to find a good free web service that offers FTP also. :( I think I read that free e-mail accounts are being canceled also (and that also Yahoo and Hotmail are thinking about this).
I would suggest you try these:
* 50megs.com - they used to be quite OK
* geocities - I am not sure if they still offer FTP access for free - try anyway
* spaceports.com
* http://free.prohosting.com/
* or try google with <<free web space ftp>> or something similar

Than just try those out, some of them must be good!

Yes, such a version exists for some time now, but it is still beta and not available on the net. I will publish it in a week or so but surely until the end of the March!

I am glad to tell you that I have uploaded a new version of Mihov Gallery Creator, a program, that helps you create internet picture galleries. All you have to do is select your pictures you want in the gallery, font face, size, colors, page colors, and the program will make an index file with thumbnails and several html files with images and links to previous and next picture. You can also add custom description to each image. If you want, the program will then upload the gallery to the interet.

The program supports English, Slovenian, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Polish languages and comes with install and unistall support (but you have also an option to download zip file only).

This program is very popular with the users - since 1998 (version 0.3) it has been downloaded more than 80.000 times.

Hi. The version that will come out in a few days (or at least in March 2002) is is possible to add text to each picture. In the latest version 0.9 this was not yet possible.
